After three decades as a senior marketing executive, Joan Fernandez retired to apply her professional frameworks to uncovering women’s stories. Beyond her award-winning novel, Saving Vincent, her short fiction is featured in two Feisty Deeds anthologies. Joan is the founder of the WFWA Historical Fiction affinity group, which she grew from its infancy to nearly 200 members. She is a frequent speaker on the intersection of marketing strategy and the arts and writes the popular Substack, Digging In. Joan splits her time between St. Louis and Sedona, where she wrangles with her grandchildren when she isn’t deep in a manuscript.
