Katrina Shawver is an author, history geek, and experienced public speaker. She wrote for The Arizona Republic newspaper for eleven years. After meeting Henry Zguda, a Polish Catholic survivor of German concentration camps, she offered to write his story. Her book Henry: A Polish Swimmer’s True Story of Friendship from Auschwitz to America, reveals a lesser-known chapter in WWII history. In 2024, the Wishing Shelf Book Awards named Henry their Book of the Decade. In 2018, the Arizona Authors Association named Henry Best Published Nonfiction. She speaks to groups of all sizes on writing, history, and Polish topics.
